Kyiv residents honor cleanness

Nobody will argue, that Kyiv is rich for different monuments and constructions – even the most exquisite art lover will find something to like. There is one amusing monument in Kyiv, that has no analogues in the world. Kyivans respect order and historical past so much, that they’ve decided to install a monument to garbage truck of the 60-th.

“Different people needed, every person’s important” – this phrase is known from childhood. But society dictates its rules, and it’s considered that the noble professions are lawyer, doctor, teacher or engineer. You remember your answer for question: ”Who will you be when you grow up? ”. Unlikely that someone planned to be a garbage man. Like it or not, this profession successfully exists. Its representatives fulfill no less important function then, for example, accountant or programmer. Therefore Kyivans decided to pay attention to trivial but irreplaceable work. In year 2004 workers of sanitary cleaning service were pleased by an event – on 2, Gazoprovidna st. was installed a monument for the reason of 35 year anniversary of Kyivspectrans (organisation that takes care of garbage removal), and also 10 year anniversary of Ukrainian sanitary cleaning service trucking company association foundation. What is this monument displaying? A model of 60-th truck is standing on monument, garbage truck KO-413. Below hanged plate, where is written, what and why installed here. Nowadays you won`t see such trucks on the streets anymore, all rarity trucks are replaced by new ones. But that’s for the best. As mentioned by Kyivans of older generation, to bare the sound of KO-413 going on a street or going into yard for a garbage patch was very hard. Clattered giants informed Kyivans about their arrival from a distance, and those who wanted to get rid of a bag or two of garbage caught up to arranged spot. Integrally, Kyivspectrans felt nostalgic and decided to memorise irreplaceable at its time truck and installed corresponding monument.

Unique monument was installed with purpose to remind of existence of such profession as garbage man and of course raise its prestige in eyes of Kyiv citizens and guests. Let’s hope, that sculpture monument in honour of sanitary labour workers will really raise status of those who help making our city cleaner and nicer.
